Louise Mulcahy (flute) - Tunes in the Church Concert 2019

Louise Mulcahy (uilleann pipes and flute) - "Precision, energy, expertise, and invention all rolled together”, is how Irish Echo reviewer Earle Hitchner described the playing of Louise Mulcahy. From Abbeyfeale Co. Limerick, Louise is a well-established performer and tutor on both uilleann pipes and flute. Louise has travelled extensively performing and tutoring at many festivals throughout the world including Augusta Irish Week and Catskills Irish Week in the United States. Louise is a regular tutor at Willie Clancy Summer School and Scoil Éigse at the All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil. Louise was a guest artist at the North East Piping Tionól in 2007 and the Chris Langan Piping Tionól in Toronto. Alongside three highly-regarded album releases with father, Mick, and sister, Michelle, Louise appeared a number of years ago on Na Piobairi Uilleann’s compilation of young pipers entitled “A New Dawn”.

Aisling Morgan (fiddle) and Paul Moran/Aneta Dortova (sean nos dancer) will also feature during the concert.

The concert includes a historic tour of the church during the interval!

The signature characteristic of  “Tunes in the Church” concerts is an acoustic, authentic, personal and interactive representation of Irish music, song and dance. Interactive involvement between the audience and the performers is central to the experience. Relaxed, natural, conversational communication during the concerts lowers the typical barrier between the ‘audience’ and ‘performer’, thereby making each concert unique, fresh, and singularly authentic. Further, by challenging the concept that the home of Irish music is a pub setting, this concert series provides an exceptionally respectful but family friendly setting for the listener and creates a platform upon which leading exponents of traditional music can showcase their fine talents.
